About

Khelpasi is a net-pay calculator for Georgia, for anyone working here or weighing up a move. Every figure used in the calculation traces to a named primary source.

What Khelpasi is

Khelpasi is a gross-to-net salary calculator for Georgia. It is built for people working here and for anyone weighing a job or a move — so that before you sign a contract you can see how much of a gross monthly salary actually lands in your hand. You enter the gross figure in lari, say whether you are enrolled in the funded pension, and the tool shows the take-home net alongside every line that produced it.

The calculation starts from gross pay and subtracts exactly what Georgia deducts from a standard salary: the employee funded-pension contribution and a single flat income tax. There is no personal allowance, no progressive band, and no separate social-security, health or unemployment charge — the pension and the flat tax are the whole story. The calculator itemises each one so you can follow how gross becomes net rather than take a single number on trust.

Why Georgia is different

Georgia runs one of the simplest wage-tax regimes in Europe: a single flat rate on employment income with no brackets and no tax-free allowance. The one subtlety worth getting right — and the thing this calculator exists to handle — is that the employee pension contribution comes off before the income tax is worked out. The tax is charged on gross minus the pension, not on the full gross, so an enrolled employee keeps a little more of their pay than a naïve subtraction would suggest. Getting that carve-out right is the difference between an answer that is roughly correct and one that matches the payslip.

Two more points surprise newcomers. The funded pension is fed by three parties — you, your employer, and the state — but only your own share reduces your take-home; the employer and state contributions are added into your individual account on top. And Georgia’s statutory minimum wage, set by a 1999 decree, is symbolic: it has never been indexed and bears no relation to real pay. We surface it honestly as a legal curiosity, never as a living-wage floor. The calculator and the topic pages handle all of this for you.

Sources and methodology

The rules behind the calculator come from primary sources: the Tax Code of Georgia for the flat income tax and the pension carve-out from the taxable base; the Law of Georgia “On Funded Pension” for the employee, employer and tiered state contributions and for who is enrolled; the Pension Agency’s own worked example for the take-home arithmetic; and Geostat for the average and median wage figures shown as real-world context. Those statistics are context only — they never enter the net-pay engine.

We model the common case: standard dependent employment. Special regimes and status-based reliefs — the capped Tax Code exemptions for certain categories, the small business turnover regime for individual entrepreneurs, fringe benefits and discretionary bonuses — are out of scope and flagged as such rather than silently folded in. Where a figure could not be confirmed against a primary source it is hedged or left out. We would rather write less than write something that does not hold up.

Our promise: honest numbers

One rule sits above the rest: no number here is invented. Every rate and amount traces to an official source. What they do not yet carry is a signature: the reviewer of record has not signed them off, so they must not be used for real decisions — for an official amount, ask your employer or the Revenue Service. No model ever declares a rate correct on its own.
